Diary entries of the German commander-in-chief in Denmark 1940-1941

Below is a complete transcript of the diary entries of the tactical staff (Abteilung Ia) of the German commander-in-chief in Denmark (Befehlshaber der deutschen Truppen in Dänemark) 1940-1941. The notes are written in handwriting in a exercise book, which bears the title ?Heft 1, Tagesbucheintragungen für den Tätigkeitsbericht des Abtl. Ia, begonnen 10.9.40?. The notes cover the period 10th of September 1940 to 26th of May 1941.

The notes were to be used, when for writing the staff?s official activity reports (?Tätigkeitsbericht, Befehlshaber der deutschen Truppen in Dänemark Abt. Ia?), which were produced every two months 1940-1943.

As mentioned above the text is handwritten, therefore it was not in every case possible to read all words with certainty. Unreadable words are marked with: ..?.. . Uncertain readings are marked with: (?).

The original document can be found in the Rigsarkivet in Copenhagen. Signature: Privatarkiv nr. 5533, Hermann von Hanneken.
